Spent the weekend in London… h2g2 meet on Saturday, the official London winter party of 2003. It was great, as usual - only this time it was greater than usual, as there was more food, more space and a non-smoking area. Plus the ventilation was fantastic, so the smoke didn’t drift very far. I still smelled of it, but that’s my fault for visiting the smoking area to talk to Shazz and Spimcoot.

Stayed over at the residence of Casp, Sparks and RowanAsh from WiccaUK. They’re all very nice, and they have a very nice apartment even given its shortcomings - they’re fewer shortcomings than my place anyway, although I’m sure if I knew how much it costs I’d not be quite so enthusiastic about it. It is in the docklands, after all. Mind you, it didn’t impress me as much as Canary Wharf station on the Jubilee line, that thing’s like an underground cathedral - only bigger. I hate to think how much money that must have cost to build, or how much excavation they had to do… at least they could ship the stuff away to where people are filling up holes instead of digging them.

I also found out the reason for the mess at St. Pancras - they’re building a new terminal which will be the UK end of the Eurostar route, using brand new high-speed tracks laid all the way down to Folkestone and cutting journey times by some very-hard-to-believe amount. Still, at least the new underground station looks like it’ll be nice.

Unfortunately we didn’t make it to the WWL moot on Sunday, but I’m sure I’ll survive…
