The Fantasy Film League
The Fantasy Film League is really a rather interesting website, which I picked up from Chris Chapman’s blog. You get a budget, and have to choose a director and cast for your fantasy film. Scoring is based on how much money that cast and crew rake in during the year in which your film runs.
My film is called Archibald: Revenge of the Carrot and is directed by the Wachowski Brothers of The Matrix fame. Since they’re releasing two sequels this round, they should do nicely - ditto for Lawrence Fishburne, who stars in both sequels as Morpheus.
Patrick Stewart is also starring, because he’s a good actor and because he’s in X-Men 2, which is out in May and should do quite well.
Now, they were so expensive that I had to go for cheaper people. Alyson Hannigan, best known for playing Willow in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, is in American Wedding later this year, which is the third American Pie film and will probably flop, but hey ho, she’s nice. Same goes for Eliza Dushku (Faith in Buffy) - great actress, not much earning potential but I can’t afford anyone else.
Tara Reid was in Josie and the Pussycats, a film I like but which the FFL doesn’t seem to know about, so I bet her earning potential is very low this year. Still, she was cheap too and she’s cute.
Finally, Jennifer Aniston (and if you don’t know she’s Rachel in Friends you’ve been living under a rock for nine years), because she’s cheap, sexy and earns all her money from TV, which doesn’t count. So just leave in the cheap and sexy bits.
(simul-posted to my blog and yours… I’d use Trackback if I had any inkling how)
Cool. The Wachowski brothers are clearly the right choice this season. It’s not very often you get to pick a director who’ll bring you dividends for more than one movie in a season.
You should join some little leagues… I’m in the h2g2 one and another one where I’m competing, this season, against trj and relic. Feel free to join as well, the details are on my site… somewhere.
