Broadband!
The ntl people came and whop! Broadband is here. Very nice, I just can’t get rsync working through the router right at this minute… will have to work on that.

I am afraid I am jealous, and will have to come round and steal/use it sometime.
Am stuck in Christchurch with no such thing as a broadband connection for what seems like 300 miles… not even a uni network to play with… oh the agony…

Still another 5 weeks until my exchange gets activated. Ho hum. At least when it does, work will pay for it, and they’ve said they’ll give me £400/£500 in August to spend on kit.

Nigel, that is horrible for you. Tim, that’s even worse for you! I’d have thought Christchurch would have broadband… or is it just your street they don’t like?

A combination of the two - we can’t get cable down our street, but ADSL we could.
However, when I said to mum “We need broadband at home” she said “No, I think /you/ need broadband at home” …Seeing as I can’t afford to keep a broadband connection, I don’t think we will get one in christchurch for a while…

That’s pretty much the same response I got. I don’t want to switch ISPs to ntl, though…
