Only Slightly… but definitely finished
Today I put the finishing touches to the last part of Only Slightly and sent it off for editing (sorry Awix, I know I should have it done earlier than this). With that out of the way, I’m contending with a strange bubbling sound in my ear that sounds like wax or mucus moving around (will have to have the doctor take a look at it if it doesn’t go away soon, as it’s extremely irritating and is one of those things that feels worrying like it might be the precursor of something nasty). I’m also free to contemplate fully the potential horrors and joys of NaNoWriMo which I have mentioned before.
I’ll be mentioning them again during November. Repeatedly.
Yes, that’s repeatedly.
Repeatedly, got it?
Now, the major problem is that, despite what my page about NaNo says at the moment, I don’t actually have a single coherent plot. I write the latest iteration up and suddenly I have different ideas, and need to think about them some more. Ideas thought about, and suddenly there’s a whole seperate plotline going on. Some of these go together quite nicely, so I could have two plots interwoven that would work quite well together (well, actually we’re looking are more like three or four the way things are going at the moment), but some of them are just begging for stories of their own.
I shall have to write them down and work on them later. Perhaps for my next Post story. I have to follow up Only Slightly with something after all, and I don’t fancy a third story set in the Future Prefect world for some time yet, if ever.
Hmm, off to think about things I think.
I know the feeling… I’ve got a basic idea, and a lot of interesting elements, among them a schizophrenic eight-hundred-year-old ghost of Robin Hood and Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse who’ve become amazingly good at procrastination… I’m just wondering why this story is happening now (i.e. in the present day) and not some other time, or alternatively, how to give the impression that in general this kind of thing happens all the time.
fun stuff. oh, and congrats on Only Slightly, I’m sure I’ll be reading that finale anytime now.
